BI Analyst

As part of our dedicated Power BI Subject Matter Expert, you will directly influence performance optimisation across the entire business by developing cutting-edge visual reports and dashboards.
**This is a flexible role; however, occasional presence at our Stockport office will be required on an ad hoc basis.**
About the Role
As a BI Analyst you’ll play a critical role in bridging the gap between raw data and strategic business decisions. Working closely with the Head of Data & Insight, Data Engineers, other BI Analysts and various business units, you will maintain a clear backlog for analytics and reporting, ensuring all solutions align with business objectives and the existing data architecture.
A key focus will be leveraging your deep understanding of business processes and data sources to design, develop, and manage highly effective Power BI reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards. In this role you will be instrumental in building the firm's data capability through training and education, championing a culture of data-informed decision-making and staying ahead of BI tool innovations.

Key Responsibilities
- Reporting & Development: Design and develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI to provide accessible and actionable insight. With the ability to think creatively and proactively to anticipate business needs and propose innovative visual solutions.
- Data Translation & Design: Apply analytical thinking to translate complex business requirements into appropriate reporting solutions, working with Data Engineering to connect, import, and transform data for optimal Power BI performance. Conducting exploratory data analysis to validate data quality and discover underlying patterns crucial for accurate report design.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business users to fully understand business processes and their objectives, challenge data requests for optimal outcomes, and conduct exploratory analysis on the Analytical Data Lake to answer key business questions.
- Architecture & Process: Maintain a full understanding of business units, objectives, hierarchies, metrics, and reporting architecture to ensure alignment in all solutions.
- Power BI Management: Develop and manage Power BI integrations, schedule updates, and monitor report usage by the business.
- Training & Innovation: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for BI training, educating users to build a data-driven organisation. Stay current with the latest Power BI developments and propose innovations to add value.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience working in a similar BI Analyst role.
- Expertise in Power BI for developing visual reports and dashboards.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with SQL programming.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for effective collaboration and education.
- Highly inquisitive nature combined with strong problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
