The Role
This is a core advisory role within the People Business Partnering & Operations function. Designed for an individual who wants to shape people practices at an operational level, this position balances hands-on case management with long-term capability building.
You will be a trusted partner to managers across the business, providing the insight and constructive challenge they need to handle everyday people challenges through to high-risk employee relations matters. Your focus will be on strengthening management confidence, championing early conflict resolution, and translating employment best practice into practical, pragmatic ways of working. You will navigate complexity and pace, ensuring that as we grow, we maintain clarity, consistency, and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Commercially Minded Advice: Provide pragmatic guidance and constructive challenge to managers on policy application and UK employment legislation, supporting informed decision-making and high-performing teams.
Employee Relations & Case Management: Manage a broad spectrum of ER matters, from day-to-day queries to complex conduct, capability, grievance, and absence cases, balancing colleague experience with business risk.
Manager Capability & Coaching: Coach and develop line managers to handle people matters with confidence, delivering engaging management development workshops and people focused training across a broad range of topics
End-to-End Case Support: Guide managers through formal processes, assisting with documentation, meeting preparation, and early conflict resolution strategies to foster a positive culture.
Operational & Lifecycle Processes: Oversee key people workflows including flexible working requests, occupational health referrals, family leave, and policy embedding to ensure consistency across all brands.
Data & Continuous Improvement: Leverage ER data, case trends, and manager feedback to spot risks, strengthen people practices, and optimise people processes, systems, and policies.
Transformation & Project Support: Provide support to Business Partners during organisational change, consultations, and restructures, while actively contributing to broader People & Culture projects that enhance the colleague experience.

Experience & Knowledge
Essential
Proven experience managing a broad range of employee relations matters, including absence, conduct, capability, grievance and disciplinary cases.
Experience supporting managers through formal people processes and providing practical, commercially focused people advice.
Experience handling sensitive and complex employee relations issues, assessing risk and identifying appropriate solutions.
Strong understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
Experience coaching and influencing managers to build confidence and capability in people management.
Experience delivering training, workshops or management development sessions.
Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
Desirable
CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience operating within a multi-site or fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting organisational change, consultation or restructuring activity.
Experience using people data and insights to identify trends and inform decision-making.
